(ADVICE NEEDED) 10.5 Norc Upper Issue

Gas Ring alignment is a popular old wives tale --- when the bolt is inserted in the carrier the ID of the carrier forces the rings shut -- I've seen Colt Mk18 and M4's run on one gas ring...

It's the ejector & extractor spring. Waiting for replacements to arrive. I'm on my phone but I thought I'd posted that.

Can you explain further?

I am interested to find out how they are causing the failures that were detailed on the previous page.

Regards.

Mark

I bought one of these uppers to run on an Armalite lower (10.5's aren't exactly falling off the trees these days) - somewhat hesitatingly I took it out last week with 100 rounds of Fiocchi for a function test. It worked very well, but when I took it home and took it apart I realized I was running a standard carbine buffer - I'd probably have put in an H if I'd been thinking about it (and I'd probably have had issues). Ejection was clean and smooth, cylce was as smooth as any AR I've shot, brass 4 feet at 4 O'clock, and the little bugger was dead on at 200m on a steel plate with irons. I'd certainly recomend a carbine buffer in these uppers, and leave the M@^*&% F^&*%$# S*&% ammo on the shelf where it belongs.

I decided to order the springs from Questar. Under $20 with shipping. I plan to test the gun next weekend with my new 14.5" Norinco AR.

both johnny12guage and Battlepug are selling their 10,5 uppers, I don't know if they have fixed the problem.

But for my 10,5 it was a combination of
-brand new gun
-muzzle brake (miculek)
-minus 20deg celcius
-probably underpwrd ammo

removing the break and shooting at 0deg celcius solved the problem (same ammo)
