Howdy, I'm going to fix up a mess of 30-30 reloads using my old trusty Lee Loader and some 170 grain flat point bullets. (Hornady 170 GR FP INTERLOCK)
To answer my question you'll need a copy of Modern Reloading (first edition). On pp 308-309 there's two different sets of recipes for 170 grain bullets. On page 308 it's simply called "170 grain bullet" and on page 309 it's called "170 grain jacketed".
I'm honestly not sure what the difference in the two sets of receipes are. The first one (170 grain bullet) isn't referrring to lead bullets (they're covered under the "lead" sections). Does the "jacketed" set of recipes refer to FMJs only? Why two sets of receipes?
My bullets are jacketed but are lead flat points, but still there's enough ambiguity in the titles to these receipes that I wanted to check before adding powder...
I just want to use the right set of receipes. Any advice?
thanks
