Hi guys,
I think I make my mind for a new premium 22 rifle.

I have an hard time to choose wich anschutz I will buy.
I will use it for hunting and fun target shooting (no competition). So the lighter, the better. I would prefer a synthetic stock but anschutz don't offer that choice.
the choices are...

1416 with 18''heavy or 23''sporter barrel, single or double stage (1250$-1400$)
I never tried a double stage trigger, is it better?
I heard the 64 action is to be discontinued, is it a concern?

1761 20'' classic (1650$)
single stage only, brand new action, easy barrel change. (should not change a premium anschutz barrel ???)
a bit heavier than the 1416.
more expansive.

I guess, accuracy should be equally good.

What is your opinion? old action or new? single or double stage ?
Thanks
Mat

Having owned both - I'd go with the 1761.
Looks like the 64 will be phased out as current inventories are depleted.
1761 has a very rigid receiver, good bedding surface, three lug bolt, improved extractor design, better safety, switch barrel capability (shouldn't be needed unless you like to tinker!).
1761 single stage 5061 trigger cannot be tuned as readily as the 5094 on the 1416.
Two stage triggers available for both depending on model - single stage better for hunting, two stage better for range work (my opinion only - open to debate).
For what you have in mind, choice will come down to personal preference - Either will do the job nicely.

I finally went with the 1416 HB 18" with the 2 stages trigger from Nordic marksman.
Can't wait to play with it!
Hope to make the 1/2" 50m challenge with it!
