Hey everyone,

I'm looking into buying a G17 for IPSC Production and maybe IDPA SSP but I can't decide whether to get fixed sights or spend the extra $50 and get adjustable sights. I've always opt for adjustable when possible but maybe it's time for a change, had been a long range rifle man for a long time.

I've read past post and it sounds like the GLOCK with fixed sights are quite accurate out of the box but still like to hear some of your personal experiences such as shooting center but high or low etc, etc. I'm not too keen on filing the front sight down as need that was suggested by someone at a range.

Like I mentioned above this will be for IPSC and target practice... 50 meters or closer.

Thanks.

The stock Glock fixed or adjustable sights are both pretty crappy. The fixed trijicon night sights are not bad. I've got a set of Heinie on mine that I've been running for years. They hold up well to abuse and are plenty accurate enough.

Don't bother with the adjustable sights, chances are you'll want to change them for something different anyway. I don't like the stock Glock sights and always change to a three dot system (night sights or regular). There are lots of styles of sights that you can use in IPSC production, next time you are at the range take a look at what everyone else is using. The vast majority of inaccurate handgun shooting is operator error, not a sight problem.

Tru-Glo TFO's. Awesome sights.
