So I have a sig 226 clone the np58. I purchased some hi viz sights for a sig 226 thinking it would fit. It doesn't. The back sight i think can be saved it is not tight tight but there is no space. The front sight i can see day light in the front and underneath. It basically falls out if u tilt it. I was wondering if this can be saved. I was wondering what can be done. I was thinking loctight for the back and maybe solder and a soldering iron to fill in the front. Or some metal to fill in the space. Or some other sights or just give up.

Thoughts?

I made a very nice shim out of brass from a casing for an air gun I used to have worked and looked very good, but the muzzle responds far different on and air gun then a live fire pistol. So my suggestion just that. Then again it may be the best thing to do.

As always pics are a big help. The rear sight should have enough space and meat that you could put a set screw or 2 into that should retain it very well. If you're seeing daylight all around the front sight that's a problem. Solder needs to get pretty hot to be effective so I'd count that out. Plus it's not genuinely intended to fill gaps that large. Epoxy or JB weld are probably your only options there but personally I wouldn't suggest either until I see the issue clearly.

Your best choice would be to contact the supplier. See if you can return the front sight and if they have a suggestion for a different model that will work better with less modification.

I've used a beer can as a shim and it worked wonderfully! Cut really nice with a razor blade and I could hardly see it.

My Shadows rear sight won't stay tight since a did a tactical pistol course where we used our rear sight to rack the slide on our holsters. Ever since I had to use Crazy glue to keep it tight. It's worked quite well but I did have to redo it about 40, 000 rounds later.

+1 Beer or pop can aluminium makes for nice thin shim material. Depending on the overall size difference between the dovetail sizes, you could have to do a complete wrap around to shim all 3 sides.

Beer cans, 22 LR cases are both good. Most anything you get that comes in those near impossible to open plastic clam shell's : that stuff can be warmed up and molds pretty well. Keeps its shape reasonably well over time and holds up pretty well to use.

So the back don't look that bad Gnort. I'm doubtful about getting a set screw in that style of sight but just a touch of crazy glue or similar should keep it put. The front is more iffy. Depending on how much you paid for the front sight I might roll the dice on it. It's a Norc not a Baer so why not. I'd go with 2 part epoxy. Lightly sand the interior of the dovetail to get it clean then epoxy it in place.
