Greetings everyone !

I have a (hopefully) minor problem with a Sako Aii in .243 win that I have recently acquired and I am hoping that I can get advice here to solve it.

My Sako originally came with iron sights which were removed by some previous owner. Each sight had 2 bolts fixing it to the barrel. When the sights were removed, the owner did not fill in the 4 bolt holes with plug bolts.

Question 1: Is there any danger firing a rifle that has open bolt holes where the iron sights used to be? ..... (I assume the answer is no, but where firearms are concerned I'm always very cautious)

Question 2: Before I contact Sako in Finland to determine the availabilty of new replacements, I am curious .. Is there anyone on this forum who has a used set of either Sako iron sights with mounting bolts or 4 plug bolts to fill the holes?

Thanks in advance ..

My guess is they will be metric, so the common #6-48 plugs wont work. I have bought sako sights from WGP in the past, and at a fraction of the cost Stoeger will charge.

These are indeed metric screws. I believe that Brownells sells them. There are several types, and the holes can be plugged in such a way that it would be difficult to tell they were ever there.
