I have a Rossi 38 Special revolver with factory adjustable sights. I do not have the manual and am unsure about the correct method to adjust the sights. I want to lower the groups (bullet impact) as the gun is shooting high with mild target loads. There are two adjustable screws- one on the backstrap (directly adjacent to the sight) and another on the right side of the front sight looking forward. The revolver appears to be a S&W clone and the sights probably adjust the same way as a Smith. Which of these screws should I be turning clockwise or counter clockwise to lower the groups? Thanks for any advice.

I would just play with the screws - if you turn a screw and the sight moves right/left you can now adjust your windage (remember - if you want to move POI right adjust sights right same for left). If you want to adjust sights down move the sights down.
the one on the backstrap is your elevation- the one in the side is your windage- a couple of turns while watching will reveal this- you will also see the sight blade move to the left or right should you need to adjust your windage- unless the screw is at the end of it's travel, in which case you have to "adjust " the front sight height by replacement(taller) or shorter( filing) or you can monkey around and find a load that hits point of aim- ie try DIFFERENT brands of ammo- they all don't shoot to the same point of impact-
