K here's the story, after researching a new custom rifle for me for long range shooting an hunting I came across so information on a 6.5 SAUM on another forum. After reading 21 pages of information and all the other stuff in between I think I might have been smitten by this caliber. The more I read about it the more I want one. I already have a couple of rigs set up for long range. Can anyone share their input on this caliber? Does anyone in Canada happen to have one of them that can verify what I have read? Any input would be appreciated, such as how does it compare to say .260/.260AI? Or 6.5 CM? If anyone could point me in the right direction to get a 6.5 SAUM built in Saskatchewan I would appreciate it.

I have a 6.5/270 WSM. It is an overbore barrel burner. I would suggest a 6.5/284 would be a better option.

easy to load, easy on the barrel and flat shooting, try the 6.5-06. I have done a few of these. matches up pretty close with the 6.5-284 but feeds out of any standard action with no issues. I built one for myself on a T3 action, and have done them up for others on left hand T3, large ring Mauser and Remington 700. probably the simplest wildcat you could own. ammo is available in the USA but I have yet to find any here.

He is just finishing a 6.5 SAUM right now for me. I bought the GAP 4S reamer you were probably reading about. I went with the .296" neck.

What are the specs on your build?

I sent Craige a Rem 700P LTR .300 SAUM with a 20" barrel and asked him to turn it into a 6.5 SAUM with a 24" barrel plus a Badger Thruster brake turned to match the muzzle O.D. The barrel is a Krieger stainless, Rem Varmint/Sendero contour, 4 groove, 8.5 twist.

The rifle has a Shilen trigger with a Rifle Basix safety. I also sent him a Wyatt extended mag box. When I get the rifle back, I'll then send it to Bonehead Customs in Edson, Alberta to get Cerakoted Burnt Bronze. I'm hoping to get a McMillan Tac-Hunter or a similar Manners stock also.
