Advice on 10/22 triggers

I have a BX trigger that I polished and did the bolt release mod. It made a great improvement, and is nicer than the Ruger factory trigger that I also polished.

I was thinking of putting my BX trigger into my rifle that still has the factory trigger, and replacing the BX with maybe a Volquartsen for my main 22.

I have two questions:

1. Is there an aftermarket trigger group that has the exact same trigger guard profile as the Ruger triggers? I ask because I use the Brownells extended mag release that fits the same profile as the factory trigger, I'd like to continue using it.

2. For half the money, should I just buy something like a Volquartsen HP action kit?

The rifle will be used this season for 3gun. Thanks to the OIC I will be shooting in the peashooter division until the risk of buying a semiauto center fire lowers a bit. So I'm after a fast, crisp trigger.

Any other recommendations? thanks
 
Also take a look at the Timney 10/22 trigger. Very crisp break and tactile, short reset. Has the extended mag release included. Got mine from brownells.
 
Bought my Timney through Jerry at Mystic Precision for my Speed Steel rifle and a Kidd Trigger Kit for on the other with a Dlask .920 barrel.
With the lightest spring the Kidd is still around 3 lbs. The spring that was supposed to give a 3 lb. trigger was about 4.5.

Can`t promise anything but will just relate my experience. Tried 4 triggers in a SR-22. Factory was horrible. BX a big improvement & excellent value for the $, but had annoying creep (hate creep). Jard 1.5lb. was nice when it worked, but broke twice and required constant attention ( will never buy another Jard trigger). Brimestone Tier 1 2.0 lb. by far the best of the bunch. Light enough, zero creep, consistent, excellent re-set, dependable (tinker free) and excellent value at $200 US (including shipping). Would buy again. Just my personal experiece.
 
If money is not part of the equation then just buy a Kidd in either single or two stage. There is nothing that even comes close. Nothing.
 
I put the Volq HP trigger kit in my 10/22 and wasn't particularly impressed with it.

Got a BX in the mail this week and am going to shoot it today. First impression is that it's at least as good, if not a bit better than the Volq kit.

That’s surprising that the Volq kit is so lacklustre. I have a Kidd trigger kit and it blows the BX trigger out of the water.

Its too bad the Kidd kits are so hard to find. They are excellent!
 
Money is a bit of a factor. I already have a lot into this rifle in a short period of time. I don’t think the $450 price tag on a Kidd is something I can justify right now. I don’t doubt it’s probably the best, maybe in the future for another rifle.

I’m thinking about the brimstone tier 2. It’s like a “2 stage” as in there is about 1/8 1lb take up to the wall then a 1lb break. The videos they have explaining the different tiers of trigger work makes a lot of sense. And a tier 2 is $150cad all in. The only thing I need to find out is if I need to send them a BX or if I can send the stock ruger trigger.

The brimstone makes the most sense, it will allow me to continue to use the brownells mag release because the trigger housing is the same.

I had a Brimstone tier two, It was a good trigger & broke at about two lbs with no creep or over travel. I thought it was an excellent value.
 
I have a Volquartsen and I think it's an excellent trigger but if I was to do benchrest target shooting I would get a 2 stage Kidd. Probably the best 10-22 trigger but pricey.
