Looking for some advice on what you use for .222 Rem it has a 1 in 14 twist? I need a decent starting point. Thanks for all your advice once again. I only ask since I have to order supplies since their are no stores up here that carry reloading supplies. I was thinking 52gr Sierra match kings with imr 4198.

There is tons of posts regarding the 222 Rem.
I've posted this on most of them. One of the most popular and best loads (seems very good in almost any rifle) is 50gr Hornady SPSX's loaded over 20.5gr of 4198.
I have tried tons of different loads in my 222's and this load is always one of the best.

I did however try CFE 223 with the SPSX bullets and got practically the identical tight groups. 26.2 gr of CFE 223 i believe is the max (please double check). I did load a bunch to 26.5gr and on a hot day I was vaporizing the SPSX bullets. They can't handle 3400+ fps.

I also have a great load using Barnes 36gr Varmint Grenades over 322 powder. I will look it up tonight and post it. Super groups, (<1/2") and screaming fast. 3800-3900 fps.

You will love your 222, they are relatively easy to get good accuracy out of, and they are fairly economical to reload for.

Thanks for all the great advice I will be ordering 50 and 52 see what I can come up with. That's why I love this place so much knowledge and willing to share totally awesome.

i use IMR 3031 and tried both 55 grain and 50 grain projectiles. But best with 23 grains of powder pushing a 50 grain hornady, my BSA hunter shoots so nice and at 150 yards, patterns under a looney. absolutely a gopher vapourizer.

Finally remembered to look up the 36 gr Barnes Varmint Grenade load.
25 gr H322, 36 gr Barnes VG, remington brass. Best group I shot with a Tikka T3 I had was .204" @ 100 yards
In my Sako AI Varmint it will shoot one ragged hole at 100 yard, and they are blistering out the barrel at nearly 3900 fps.
