Hi - looking for any recommendations for an accurate semi automatic 22LR target pistol. I like the Ruger Mark III (maybe the target version), Browning Buckmark, S&W Victory, and if I can find a decent price on a Volquartson Scorpion. Open to all other ideas ..

+1 for S&W Model 41. Once you shoot it, you'll never want to fire another round through a Ruger and the like.

I have the MKIII Hunter. Incredibly accurate at 25 meters with federal 36gr (525 rnd bulk). Plus with a McFadden speed loader mag loading takes literally 2 seconds.

I'm a Ruger Mk 1 through 3 fan. They shoot great, a first time shooter can just be a star with one.
Tried a few other brands, just never compared to the Ruger. It had a big ole tapered bull bbl and a factory muzzle brake, it was very easy to shoot well with.
My 2 cents

I cannot recommend a new Ruger really. Their quality control isn't there anymore. Also the warranty center a pain. I got a gun with miss drilled holes for the factory base, then the replacement came with crooked front sight, Then the rear sight broke. For that Id never buy another new one.

I bought my Ruger MK3 a year ago. It's perfect..Acurate.I also bought Buckmark Gray Lite about the same time.I like the browning but it's not the Gun the Ruger is.

Since you are in Calgary, visit the Calgary Rifle nd Pistol Club. CRPC is the major bullseye/precision competition club in the province and if you want to try that route, the European pistols are enormously superior to the current and past US products. Walther GSP is always a safe bet, but there is currently a lot of movement towards Pardini products.

Out of the box the Brownings have a nicer trigger. And most folks find the grip feel and angle of the Browning is better.

The Rugers CAN be improved. But to make a Ruger shoot and feel as nice as a 41 means spending as much as the 41 costs in the first place to buy the Ruger then replace a bunch of the parts with the Volquartsen items.

I have a MKIII Competition and a Buckmark Hunter. The MKIII was almost $200 more and it took a $150 Volquartsen accruing kit to get it comparable to the Buckmark. I like them both, but I would suggest the Buckmark for best value for the dollar.
