Advice on a new 308

If we're voting, one more for the Rem. 700 SPS. Swap the bottom metal, shorten the barrel, aftermarket stock, Federal GMM, Bob's your uncle.

Another vote for the T3 CTR. Honestly it’s fantastic out of the box if you’re ok with a plastic stock. The TRG mags are better than the AI mags in my experience. Shoot it for a year as is and by then you’ll have money for an aftermarket stock if you’re so inclined. My 20” CTR in .308 is a hunting rifle in the fall and has also successfully been used for PRS past 800m. My 24” CTR in 6.5 is my PRS gun and has no trouble out to 1000m. For your budget you’ll have a rifle with an excellent mag, a trigger that honestly does not need upgrading, a decent bolt knob and a picatinny rail. It’s good to go out of the box.

I echo this sentiment. I own a T3 CTR in .308 and I am hitting pop-cans at 700m. It's incredible out of the box, and the bolt action is the best I have ever felt.

I found one on sale for a bit over $1,300 when I bought mine. 20" barrel and 10 round magazine are standard.

Sig Sauer Cross, 6.5lbs,1/2 MOA capable with a16" stainless steel match barrel.2 stage match trigger Did I mention it folds up. Next gen hunting rifle.

I love my RAP, but only spent 500$ for it and then 95$ on optics (Lol! Gotta love the EE). With an extra 900 budget you'll probably find something on it lacking - even though I was shooting 0.6MOA on my second outing with it. I polished the bolt on the lathe to stop the corduroy noises when cycling.

Perfect deer rifle for me, and shoots great at the range when I feel like spending 10$ to load my mag to make the steel sing (Im a .22 guy!)

Used Rem 700? Used t3?
