I'm looking at over / under 12 ga . What is the best one for mid range price ( $600 )
Screw in chokes
2 3/4 - 3 inch shells

Thanks for the help

I think this was just asked on here about 2 weeks ago. If you are looking for a new over/under for $600.00, save your money. $600.00 for a new over/under is not mid range, that is bottom of the barrel. Yildiz and CZ are decent entry level over/unders but they are more than $600.00, at least the CZ is.

Regarding the Baikal o/u. If you want a strong, reliable over/under, I would look for a used older USSR marked one. There is one listed on the EE right now which I believe is a USSR marked one that has been lowered to $300.00. I have one of the older USSR made ones and it is not a bad gun at all. It has the option of having ejectors or extractors. Apparently the USSR made guns were of higher quality than the newer Baikals. Anyhow, at $300.00 that is half the cost of your $600.00 price point and this gun will do everything as well as ( and probably longer) than a new $600.00 gun. The one drawback is it doesn't have screw in chokes. But if the gun was opened to modified and improved cylinder, there wouldn't be a need for different chokes in most cases anyhow. (my opinion)

Hmmm... I tend to buy old fixed choke shotguns. However, I have avoided the Baikals as they have chromed bores, which makes them difficult to modify. Perhaps someone can chime in with more experience in this matter.

You know they make ou as well.

I know, I had one. I was just trying to figure out what your $675.00 SxS had to do with him wanting an over/under. Can you buy a new CZ over/under for $675.00 that your SxS cost or was it used the one you bought? The over/under I had was a canvasback that I bought new in 2009 and I paid $745.00 plus taxes if I remember correctly. At that time it was the lowest price I could find in my province.

It is used, but it is also closer to the price that OP wants to pay. The bobwhite and the canvasback are similar price new and a used one may fit his price point.

I have a 12 gauge CZ Canvasback for about three years and a 20 gauge O/U Yildiz for a year and had no problems with either one so far but they are a little more then you want to spend.
The Yildiz weighs only 5.8 lbs and very handy to carry all day.
