Does anyone have any experience with the Aero Precision M4E1 Enhanced uppers. It obviously restricts your choice of handguards to AP or others using BAR nut. Looks like a nice system but I’m a little unsure about restricting my other choices like that.

they make the m4e1 with a regular ar threaded front as well. still has the benefits of easy install for the bolt release and forward assist without a roll pin and a flared magwell. hard to like the look of other receivers in the price range after seeing one of these especially if you have it with the m4e1 lower too. fit and finish is amazing too.

I went with the non-enhanced m4e1 because i wanted a sleek handguard and the enhanced ones were too thick. look at their Atlas s-one or r-one handguards, theyre real nice.

Love the system. They make nice hand guards, the restriction in choices doesn't concern me. I tinker, the ease on installing and removing the hand guard means more to me. Plus there's absolutely nothing wrong with their offerings.

I was mulling that around too, kinda leaning that way. It’s funny you mention the thickness, I was just watching a review after I posted and they talked about it. Thanks for the response.

Good points. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

In a conventional AR everything from the barrel extension forward hangs off the barrel trunnion which is surprisingly flexible as it very thin. The E1s use a tubular plug to retain the barrel meaning there is far more aluminum supporting the barrel, the barrel "nut" and the handguard. In the world of rigidity I feel the E1s are only beat by monolithic uppers, that said the rigidity is only going to matter to people running bipods, lights, lasers, slings or from improvised support.

Can you guess which upper I am running?

Lol... I’m going to guess E1..

It certainly is a whole lot beefier like you say. Definitely something to consider.

Thanks!

I used an AP Enhanced Upper on my 300 Blackout build. It holds the hand guard solidly in place, but you are limited to your selection of hand guards, but I like the AP Hand Guards. The fit and finish is fantastic for the price, and makes a build a bit easier IMO. I attached it to a DD Lower with zero issues.
