Hello!

I was thinking about buy a Cz. 858, or (vz. 58)

I have my non-restricted, i love the look, love the style.

I already have an SKS, so i would get the CZ in 7.62

Any better options that someone could suggest? Pros and Cons of this gun?

Always loved the AK, and this as close as im gunna get (as far as i know)

they are great rifle i have one and love it
accurate and reliable
i've put black upper and lower hand guard and black ak pistol grip and looks bad ass

Interested to see the replies/reviews posted here as I am also on the fence about buying a CZ 858....

I have an SKS and an 858.
The 858 is a way nicer gun, more accurate, lighter and more fun to shoot.
I also find it easier to clean then my SKS too. The only con I can think of is having to carry more crates of mil surp ammo into the house.

I own both, SKS and CZ 858, funny, they shoot the same ammo but are internally miles apart. CZ is an art piece compared to SKS, it shoots more accurately, takes apart for cleaning/servicing much better, it is a piece of fine machinery. To clean up an SKS you pretty much need a crow bar to pry all those pins open, accurate enough to hit a barn but it won't jam. So again, seemingly same guns but really waaaay apart. But I like shooting them both.

Get one! Its a ton of fun--well worth the price. The n/r can be taken anywhere--its a great gravel pit gun and very cheap to shoot. If you wind up with the mods bug like I did, BE PREPARED!!! They're also reasonably accurate.

Once you buy a 858 you won't shot the sks im guessing. I havent touched mine since i got a 858.

The 858 is reliable, very easy to field strip, shoots cheap ammo, is "relativley" accurate, comes with 4x mags, sling, bayo and sheath, ummmmm
Just buy it. You WILL NOT REGRET IT.

For all the reasons mentioned above. I continue to be amazed at the accuracy years later, from what I've read mine isn't unique in that regard. You can't beat the ammo price either. It's quite mod friendly too, an excellent selection of stocks, forends, ergo mods to choose from.

I'm curious here I have neither but I want one not sure what one since they are both awesome looking and cheap to shoot, I'm just wondering how much more accurate are the cz vs sks? Like 3-4 inch groups instead of 4-8? Are they really worth the 300-400$ more then an sks?

There's a sticky here about red rifle accuracy. "range report- 8 types of 7.62x39 ammo." That should answer your accuracy questions. As for if it's worth it, that depends on what you want out of the rifle and how much you are willing to spend. In my opinion the CZ is very much worth it.

Maybe you can find a member in your area with one you can shoot first . I'm pretty sure you will want one as soon as you shoot it . Mine is accurate enough for me .

I bought a CZH2003 that had a lever in the trigger group coming loose that I fixed with a mallet and steel punch (and have had no problems with since). I didn't like that it was restricted so, I bought an 858, coated it from Rauch Tactical. Stupidly, I sold the 858 sold it, bought a Nork a second (or third) Nork CQ.

Before selling my Rauch coated 858, I bought 4 SKS's (as an investment). One Russian Refurb and 3 Norincos.

The Russion one feels VERY slick. The action is smooth and the overall quality on it is awesome. The Norinco's feel like they've been made from a hacksaw and file - but for the price, I really couldn't complain (I've never shot the Norinco's - as I say, they're an investment piece).

Anyways, I eventually traded one of my Norinco CQ's for an 858.

The 858's are great - but a bit pricey. Easy to maintain and great piece of mind, when shooting corrosive ammo, to know that you can take it apart in seconds, and clean it in minutes. The SKS is a little bit more involved and you always get that nagging feeling in the back of your head "Did I clean it well enough?"
