Advice on inexpensive optics upgrade

Hey all. I just bought a savage axis in .308 and was wondering what a decent scope upgrade that doesn't cost an arm and a leg would be. Any suggestions?

bushnell makes some nice inexpensive scopes. i had a banner on my 700 when i got it and it did the trick. how much are you looking to spend?

Doesn't the axis come with a bushnell 3-9

Redfield, Nikon, Burris all make acceptable sub $200 3-9x40 scopes.

The bushness that comes with the Axis is not great (I sold it 50$ on the EE), anything else is better.
I currently have a Burris Fullfield II on my axis and it works fine.

You start to get into some half decent scopes around $500-600.00 and up. I like the Redfeilds, especially the older ones.

That's what I'd do as well.. the upper end of their products can sometimes be real value used.

I'd look for a used Bushnell 4200 in 2.5-10x, they come up on the EE for $250-300 frequently and make a great hunting optic.

Ok under $300 I would strongly suggest a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40 $275 at Lebarons and there is a $50 mail in rebate from Bushnell if you buy before Dec 31st.
Made in Japan, very decent scopes.

You won't go wrong with the Elite series, they're a good scope for the money.
