advice on ipsc pistol

+ whatever for the XD for your course gun.
lighter loads like 1911 suggests and you will have no worries.
PM for loads that make factor and will run an XD no problem.

WTF! I didn't realize that IPSC divisions were hierarchical. :redface:

Maybe you should tell Adam Tyc to stop wasting his time in lowly Production Division and move up to Standard or Open. :slap:
 
I might sound controversial, but if you really want to buy a new gun but short no funds, get yourself a .22. You could practice the fundamentals very very cheap and shot big guns you alredy have at the matches.

Please dont tell me the ipsc thing is an old boys club ,I have this problem at my home range up in northern ontario, the old fudds wont let us younger guys do anything,if this is the case ill take a big step back from the ipsc thing right now, and as for being low on funds, I have no problem dropping a couple grand getting, holster, mag pouches, 1200 hundred or so on a decent gun,I just prefer to buy something that was purposly built for the game,I have been shooting since i was 6 years old with my parents, bought my first pistol when I was 18, I may not have been involved in the organized parts like ipsc,but even i know there is gear made specificly for each of the diffrent shooting games,just like you would not show up to an f class shoot with 770 remington,your gonna get your ass handed to you on a silver platter

Other than the fact that most of us are old and therefore half blind (hence the scope), it isn't a special club. He was kidding.

There's been some good advice offered here; shoot what you have until you've had a chance to try different guns and divisions to discover what really suits you. There a a LOT of different choices and criteria when selecting a platform and ancillary equipment and all the suggestions from forum surfers are only personal opinions. Most IPSC shooters will be only too happy to let you try their gear and show/tell you why they have chosen a particular setup over another. IPSC shooting can get expensive, and all the more so if you make your purchases in a vacuum.

I you If you are going to spend the money, you might as well do the research and spend it once for the right thing. Try before you buy.

But of course, this too is just an opinion.

I didnt mean it quite like that. It was more refering to the cost factor and equipment race not skill level.

You got it wrong, again! It is SVI/STI, it's right there in the handle, come on! Is your eye sight that bad? Soon you will be like Rob with bad eyes and we will have to think about asking you to join our ranks........:slap:
 
out of the 3 you present, i would go with the para. but i am married to 1911's. if you can afford it, STI edge in .40 would be my choice for standard. For production, id go with a CZ shadow. and as for open, as has been previously stated it finds you when its ready!
