This is not about the OP, this is for anyone who wants advice on their first AR. This is also for people to learn about a few things, I'd love to learn more.

If you read the past 24 pages, most of what you’ve suggested for Rifle brand and accessories have been mentioned already somewhere. Nice summary btw!

My friends who have owned both have all said the DD is more accurate. I did not realize until now that BCM has both CHF and standard barrels, maybe my friends had standard ones? Can't check now because they've sold them all but they never mentioned CHF so my guess would be standard. I'll text them now and see what they say. Also Daniel barrels are used by Socom and are made in house, if that means anything at all. (probably not)

A criticism of DD barrels from me would be that they should offer barrels that are QPQ Nitride treated and offer the S2W profile in 5.56 barrels that are shorter than 18".

They are both chf and chrome lined and unless I'm mistaken made from the same steel grade. Maybe you are referring to dd chf to bcm non chf.

Don't get me wrong dd barrels are pretty tits mcgee

As far as rails go for me it's geissele or bust so i can't argue about bcm or dd rails since i have experience with neither.

Personal preference is not the same as better performance. I don't like the bcm or the dd stock. Magpul str/acs or the lmt/b5 sopmod for me... or the 416e1.

And what makes you say lmt are inferior other than they are "not popular"?

That's a bit of a stretch, I don't think a bcm or lmt gives up anything to a dd. At least not performance wise.

I do agree with your statement about mil spec being a minimum requirenent.

My bad, outside the classic M4 offerings of which there are four, DD offers only midlength.(I don't care about 300 blackout guns)

Same here, Geissele is top notch but what I really want is the new rail off of the URG but offered in many different lengths and in black, Id get a 15" black in an instant. DD rails are built like tanks and they way they are secured to the receiver is great. Magpul STR is a great choice if you want a cheek weld/storage. If not then the CTR and the DD stock are both great

I have no information regarding LMT other than they offer monolithic uppers and I'm not too familiar with mono's so I can't comment on that. All I know if that they aren't too popular, why aren't they popular? No idea. That's why I said I am willing to bet that a DD is "better" but I don't have any info.

KACs aren't popular but thats because they are expensive, but at least the military uses them. Idk if LMT has been used before. Not saying if the mil uses something then that means its a quality product, just saying that whatever the mil uses usually causes that product to become quite popular. Just look at the P320

Lmt especially their mono guns are fairly pricey. Maybe not kac level pricey but they aint cheap. And there are militaries that use lmt hardware including full guns.

B5 sopmod bravo is my go too tubeless stock. Love that sloped cheekweld.

I agree on the mk16 rail it is a slick piece of kit.

And amen on the 320. On the bright side the drop jokes are still funny.

I actually almost bought a P320 for my mom, good thing I didn't! I went to the states and shot both the P320 and VP9 side by side and HK wins again so I'm thinking I'll get her an SFP9.... I've got a USP Tactical so the P320 doesn't interest me lol

I think I'm also going to buy a few SLR receivers... they'll be nice to have once my BCL102 comes in, tired of the AR15 being restricted, going to miss that forward assist even if I have never used it haha
