Hey all!
I have a 12g 870 express with the synthetic stock and mossy oak print throughout.
Ive been shooting skeet with it lately and my cheek bone is getting beat up. After asking the advice of some very experienced shooters I was told that the cheek rest is not parallel with the barrel and that the gun is too light.

It was suggested that I pad the cheek rest with something like a mouse pad and that I should fill the buttstock with something to make it heavier which is supposed to help reduce the recoil.

I would buy a different but stock BUT the entire gun is camo so even if I could find a remington 870 buttstock with the adjustable cheek rest it would likely stand out like a sore thumb.

Also please don't bother with the "buy an O/U" comments because I not only don't have the money to do that right now but I'm also determined to shoot a perfect round with my pump since I've been told that I'd have a hard time doing it. I can pump my shotgun damn near as fast as the average o/u shooter pulls the trigger twice and I've been successfully shooting doubles.

So my question is what would you recommend to fill the butt stock to make it heavier? I was thinking maybe removing the pad and drilling a hole and filling it with silicon or something.
Also what suggestions do you have for the cheek rest?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I am no expert, but if your cheek is sore, the length of pull is probably too long. With a good gun mount your should have between 2 to 3 finger widths between the end of your nose and your thumb. Lengthening an 870 stock is pretty easy (spacer kits are available, I recently purchased one). Shortening it would require a different stock.
If the length of pull is correct, it could be that the drop is incorrect. With your gun mounted (empty) you should be looking along the top of the barrel. If you have a friend look down the barrel from the muzzle, they should be able to see about half of your eye above the receiver/rib. Only do this with an empty, open action gun! Or go to a competent gunsmith who may be able to do some stock fitting for you.
If you need to raise the rib, start with some tape and cardboard to figure out how much height you need. Then worry about a new stock.
Adding more weight, well an 870 is not that light to start with so unless you are shooting a hundred rounds a night, I would not worry about it. Go with a 1oz load and you should be fine.

There are lots of videos on YouTube about gun fit, google it.

A cheap and fast possibility is for you to try a CheekEZE pad. Basically its like a rubber pad that is sticky, specific for shotgun stocks. I have one, works great.
