I recently picked up a sporterized BSA No. 1 Mk.III. I had thought I'd like to restore it, but now I'm not so sure. In fact, I've got it listed on the EE.

The main issue is, the barrel has been shortened to 20.5" according to my measurements. I've seen examples of guys working with these shortened barrelled guns to make an acceptable full wood rifle.

I'd like your opinions on what I could do with this if I chose to do the work. I'm not that experienced with gunsmithing, fyi.

I'll take some better pics this evening.

I would suggest keeping that one as a sporter, there are many, many other No1Mk3 with their original barrel which make a restoration job significantly easier.

Forget it. There are literally hordes of No1mkIII's in this country with untouched barrels, and for sale for like $100 or so.

That rifle is not restorable now. Sell it as a hunting rifle and buy one with a full length barrel, which 95% of them have.

If you have no experience with gunsmithing, then you should pay someone who does, before you hurt yourself or someone else.
