Advice on Shipped SKS's -- Tracking not working

I shipped my two prized and very accurate SKS's to Murdoc for the full monty on Saturday. They were supposed to have arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, the tracking number does not work, as it still only indicates "item received at post office". I confirmed that the item is not at the post office. Do I have a case to get my $99.07 in shipping charges refunded? I mean, I paid for tracking and expedited service. The SKS's still have not arrived. For all I know, they could have been lost or stolen -- however, if the later were the case, the dip$hits will have no bolt, bolt carrier, gas piston, main/recoil spring, piston rod and piston rod spring.

Canada Post, I assume?

Delivery times are at best an estimate with CP. Read the fine print, they don't guarantee any delivery times.

If it's not there in a week, start looking into it.

First I believe that shipping firearms expedited is against the CP shipping policy, so the second you complain, if they find out what it is you are S.O.L.

Secondly, what are you new?

This is standard practice for Canada post! The tracking system is useless, as tits on a bull! I don't even bother checking it anymore!

I have been shipping stuff with CP for years. I actually have never had an issue with them, but I have with a number of other shipping companies.

How can expediting a firearm be against policy? I will call in the morning to confirm.

Kurgan; Let it ride for a bit buddy,I've raised a stink with this kind of thing in the past only to find out that it is indeed on a door step "as we speak" sort of thing. It's insured expensive shipping. On the very outside possibility something goes wrong, they'll make it right. Half the time they're tracking system is slower to update than the truck taking your rifles for the "park job":D

As is usual for your posts, you are lost in space with your answers. Expedited is a legal way of shipping firearms for a Contract Customer.

As for the OP. You did not pay for express shipping, hence no delivery date guarantee. So no refund on delivery date

Did OP mention he was a contract customer?

Regular parcel was the way to go.

OP, just wait a bit, it will come through. If you do tell them they lost firearms, things will get moving. Violating CP policy is not a crime, it only voids any insurance on the parcel.

Did I say the OP did anything ILLEGAL? Everything I posted was the exact truth, straight from CP, and personal experience!

You really told me! Guess what? Canada post regulations have absolutely nothing to do with the law, so who is lost in space? :jerkit:

Watch out the Canada Post Shipping Police are on the way!

And please tell me where in the OP's post he refers to himself as a dealer of any kind? He specifically refers to them as his prize possessions or whatever, so clearly this is not the case!

Non-contract Customer
Regular Parcel with Signature option

Contract Customer
Expedited Parcel with the Proof of Age (18 or 19) option using EST.

There cannot be any ammunition in the firearm or in the package. Bullets, cartridges and other ammunition are dangerous goods and cannot be mailed. These items fall under Class 1 (Explosives) of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.

Customers who wish to ship firearms must :

unload the firearms
attach a secure locking device to the firearms
lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container and
remove the bolt or bolt carrier from any automatic firearms (if removable).
Firearms cannot be shipped via air and cannot have any markings on the outside of the packaging. The Customer is solely responsible for meeting all Canadian Firearms Centre regulations.

With Canada Post anybody can be a contract customer just sign up for Venture1, does not cost anything. You get a 5% discount when you ship Expedited and there is other perks shipping Expedited over Regular parcel. Anyway Kurgan if your tracking is in the system don't worry about it. Shipping from B.C. to Quebec is on average 5 working days, some took longer up to 9 days.

shipping will be slow this time of year, it took Canada Post a full 7 days to get a envelope to me from b.c. this week. Ive had rifles here from b.c. in 3 days regular parcel during the summer. Sometimes it just takes a little longer and sometimes its quick. dont worry too much Kurgan, like others have said, their tracking system is crap unless your parcel has to make stops inbetween like crossing the US/CAN border. Im sure they will make it to arma-coat soon, and soon they will be like those blonde bombshells that cook and clean...you know, the ones from t.v. :)

Thanks guys. Just to confirm a few facts. I am not a dealer, but regularly ship firearms, as I like to buy and sell. I also have a venture One card, which I suppose makes me a "contract customer". I was never aware of there being a problem shipping a firearm "expedited", and I will confirm with Canada Post on the matter later this morning. Murdoc will check again to see if it arrived today. If not, I will let you know how successful I am in getting a refund or partial refund.

Expedited delivery rarely ever gets updated before the item is either delivered or the day of delivery! Expedited is just a cheap way to get a tracking number in case something goes wrong. Canada Post has little issue paying out claims, so for the price it is definately worth it!

Even regular shipping gets a tracking number now. Just so you know. And expedited rarely gets there any quicker.

Venture1?
