As the title says, Im looking for some experienced advice about my swede m96 safety. As of now it has its military style wing safety, however I'm going to have the rifle d&t for a scope and therefore it wont be able to function. I am looking for advice on whether to install a Buehler type low safety or a new trigger (probably Timney) with a safety in the mechanism. I know that whichever option I choose there will be some fitting/inletting that will need to be done for it to work which is fine and I believe I could accomplish it myself. I'm looking for advice from experienced members about the pros and cons about each option and why you would choose one over the other. Also, is there another option I havent thought of? Additionally, the stock is not bedded, but that is something I am also planning on doing. Will that have any impact (positive or negative) on the new trigger option?
Thanks for your help

I have assembled 3 M96 Swedes from TradeEx over the last couple of years. I bought a new sporter bolt to go in the barreled actions from them also and it had no safety. The first one I installed a Timney trigger with side safety at ~$120'ish I think.
As you mentioned there is some minor wood work that has to be done to make it fit properly but with a Dremel tool and patience it wasn't difficult.

The next two I built with a Bold trigger from Boyd's in the US. Exact same trigger just a different colour and only ~$35'ish. I cannot see any difference between the two triggers except price. The Bold trigger installed exactly the same as the Timney.

That's my two cents.

I prefer the Beuhler's because it blocks the striker, as in the original military safety. If you're changing out the trigger anyway, it might save a few bucks to go with the trigger safety. The inletting of the stock will have to be enlarged to accommodate.

Considering the price difference between the Bold and Timney triggers, the Bold will definitely be worth a look. That's a good point about the striker 9.3mauser.

My plan was to only change out one of the parts so as to have a rifle that would function with a scope installed without high rings and still have a functional safety. If I decide to change out the trigger, will this have an impact on the ability to bed the action?
