Wow, I have a lot to learn about .I had no ideas how dangerous houses could be. I am grateful that the OP brought this topic up.
But all the info seems to be an outside defense,what if I am inside the house when it attacks? Do the same tactics apply?

I'll actually try to answer your first question.
I would thinking something with a shorter barrel would be better. Long barrels are awkward to get around corners and easy to grab. Something like a SAP6 would be nice:

Downside is they are both pump-action and they cost around $6-800ish I think.

House defense is not necessary in my opinion. Mortgage defense is a more serious concern
