Advice please

I just recieved a 20 gauge double barrelled J.P. Sauer & Son shotgun from my father. One barrel has some gouges that are quite noticable. It is a beautifull shotgun and I would like to refinnish it. Would it dimminish the guns value to refinnish? Should I leave it as it is? Your advice would be much appreciated.

A "gouge" in the barrel? or a dent? Dents can be pushed back out. A gouge where metal was removed could be a different story.

Just get someone with a MIG welder to fill it.
