My better half came to the range for the first time in 8 years, and fired my teenage son's Mod 17 Glock 9 for the first time. She has very little handgun experience. Even with a proper two handed stance, she felt like the the Glock (with the smallest backstrap) was about to slip out of her hands under recoil with factory ammo.
My darling's specs:
- just a tad under 5 feet tall
- very small hands with short fingers
She's petite, but strong and in great shape.
She tried holding my S&W M&P 40 at home with the small backstrap, and the grip was better for her than the Glock. Are the grips on the M&P Shield pistols any smaller than on the full size pistols?
Other than going to single stack mag 9's - such as a Colt 45 type - any ideas as to a 9 for someone with small hands?
Thanks in advance.
