Advice wanted for non restricted .223 (similar to AR180B-2)

As the title states, I am looking for some options to the AR180B-2. I would like a non-restricted gun that I could hunt yotes with or just take out plinking.

I read the thread on the Armalite AR180B started by Armedsask, and I may end up going with that brand, but I am just wondering what else is out there. My budget would be around $1500.

Dekard knows more about this but apparently the Norinco type 97 is coming in a non-restricted version for $800ish...If it is as good as my 97 shorty it will sell like sh!t through a goose.

stock SL8 new are in the 2100$ range, better be quick in getting one in the EE, 3 were for sale recently and they all became SPF, I wonder why :D. The word is that they are very accurate.
 
have you thought about a Remington 7615? I have seen a couple of them on this site that have been given the black treatment and look pretty slick. Its a pump but they are normally damn accurate.

Thanks for the thoughts guys...so it looks like I am limited to the AR180B-2, the Ruger Mini 14 (probably target model), the upcoming NORC (not willing to wait) OR a used H&K SL8.
 
i think your in the same boat as the rest of us looking in the 1500 or under range for an accurate .223 semiauto.the only one in that range is the mini14 target .everything else is 2000$,h&k,xcr,and swiss arms.they are nice but $$$$.if a dealer brings in a rifle non restricted in this range that shoots real straight it will sell!!nothing wrong with 180b or standard mini but not as accurate as a bolt gun.
 
Pretty much as already stated, the Mini14 target is at the $1K (slightly below including taxes and shipping) mark. It's easy to get as well.

With a Falcon Menace 4-14x 4mm scope, it's under $1500 and ready to shoot. Can't complain about that.

It doesn't have the "cool" factor of the Swiss Arms or HK SL-8 but..... a gopher is just as dead.
 
You could always hunt for one of the ever elusive HK SL6
