Yeah, if you have soft point ammo. I wouldn't be shooting FMJ at gophers in the fields I shoot on (600+ acres), as the misses (and probably hits too!) will go waaaay too far.
Light skinned .223 pushed fast is the way to go. Even if you miss, it's gonna disintegrate on the dirt.
