Fellow Gun Nuts?

This upcoming march I will be celebrating my 50th birthday.

I wish to buy myself a memento to mark that milestone.

I currently have a semi (ruger 10-22) and a bolt (CZ - 455 Canadian) so I am short a lever action.

Being my 50th, cost is no really a huge consideration, I am open to spoiling myself.

So I am looking for the knowledge of the gun nuts to determine what I should get.

At this time I am kind of leaning towards the Henry Golden Boy with the custom engraved aftermarket receiver ($150 extra on the Henry site) but am looking for opinions

Thanks

I grew up with a Browning BL-22, you can get different grades and I highly recommend checking one out at a store, it's a solid 22, shot countless Grouse, Rabbits, and squirrels with it over the years, great memories with that little lever, I highly recommend you give it a look!

100x this over the henry rifles. Henry mark up so easily.

I have a marlin 39m which i dont see myself parting with is the one I like best. Very well built, and finished made to pass down the generations. They are getting rare and very pricey these days. Ive also handled a friends winchester 9422 which to me is almost as good and has a good balance. I plan to have some day too. Ive owned a BL22 which is widely availabe and found the quality is as good as the other two. A lot of people like the short lever throw, personally i like a long throw and found my wrist got sore working it. As for Henry I had a basic one for a while, they work great have excellent customer support but personally hate the coated receivers and felt it almost toyish but reliable. The goden/silver boys are real lookers and have a much better feel and look to them.

Its all personal tase in the end.

Definitely the Henry, frontier model with the octagon barrel.

If you go the Henry route, rather than getting the factory engraved option I would buy the regular gun and get someone to engrave it.

Golden Boy for the win. I’ve got over 4000rnds through mine with not a single issue. Last time I took my old friend out to shoot he tried it and later went out and bought his own. Accurate with the adjustable buckhorns and cycles smooth as glass with whatever lr ammo I put down the mag tube.

If you want to hit anything with it, get a BSA Martini in VG+ condition (single-shot, but a lever gun nonetheless).
