I am looking at upgrading the trigger on a Remington 700 I just put in a Cadex chassis. I have a couple Timneys on other rifles and they are ok. I'm looking at something different for this either a Cadex trigger or a Jewel? I like how the trigger shoe is adjustable on the Cadex. Does anyone know how the Cadex stacks up to the Jewel?

Jewel triggers are known for not being very reliable in less than sterile environments, however they do make great triggers for guns that will only see a bench. I wouldn't put one on a field rifle. Don't know much about the Cadex triggers, so I can't comment there. I hear good things about the Trigger Tech triggers, and I believe that is what PGW is now supplying on all of their rifles - so you know reliability shouldn't be an issue with a TT trigger.

my friends and I love our triggertech triggers that we put on our 700's.... Cheaper then most comparable triggers and canadian made

It's not on your list, but I can highly recommend Rifle Basix triggers. I put one on my Rem 700 & it is absolutely spectacular!!! Similarly priced to a Timney, so in between the Trigger Tech and a Jewel.

This is the generally accepted wisdom, yet the Jewel is the most popular trigger in PRS matches. http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/12/06/best-rifle-trigger/

That was pretty surprizing given that a couple of them go down on average in every match. They had a poll on the Hide after that came out and 1 in 5 people who used them had experienced failures. I guess people are willing to take the chance in order to be able to use a light trigger pull.

I tried one last winter and as soon as the rifle would get cold, it would stat experiencing failures to ####. Taking it apart and cleaning it it with lighter fluid did not fix it. My guess is tolerances were too tight and things were getting pinched when the metal contracted since it would come back if I heated it up in the truck.

Not going to complain if the people I'm competing against want to use them. Go ahead and roll the dice!

I just saw the thread on the Trigger Techs looks like that could be a good option. Does anyone know any site sponsors who have them in stock?

I use a Jewel on my precision rifle. While I don't go dragging it through the mud and elements, its not solely a bench rifle either. So far the Jewel hasn't let me down. I love the adjustability range of the Jewel and how crisply it breaks. I haven't used a Timney myself, but I have heard great things about the Calvin Elite that they make as well as the 510. The CE is up with the Jewels in price range though. But for a less expensive option, I've heard nothing but good things about the Trigger Tech triggers. I think I will try one of these myself next time.

Trigger Tech all the way. We use them on all of our builds unless our customer specs something else. I have been very happy with them. The only fault is the bolt release design. It sticks a little on a factory Remington. But if you have an aftermarket with the side bolt release, you just remove it anyways. I have two on my own rifles and won't look back.

I am surprised no one has mentioned one yet (looking at you Komboyatch) but the CG Extreme triggers are the best (IMO) out there. One of the CG Extreme triggers is actually currently in US service.

They are a little finicky to set-up but are worth it in the end, should mention they were pricey before the dollar tanked.

Yes, they are a bit finicky to set up. The first one I bought worked flawlessly in my M700 trainer. However, when I tried to use it in my Surgeon 591, it didn't work properly. Firing pin wouldn't drop. Ended up having to change out the spring that holds up the sear for a lighter one. Same thing on the second one I bought, and in my second Surgeon 591. The third one worked fine... at first. Put about 1200 rounds on it before taking it to the GAP Grind. It ended up failing on me on the first day in the middle of a stage. Luckily G2 switched it out for a Timney and got me back in the match before the next stage. When I got home, I switched out the spring on that trigger for the lighter one and it started working again. It's been working fine since, but I'm hesitant to recommend it now.

I'm waiting to try the TriggerTech 2 stage and the Timney 2 stage when they come out.

If you're technically inclined and enjoy perfection, the CG is a great option. I have them on Tikkas and they are more versatile than the TRG trigger, and easier to work on. Performance is identical. All triggers may fail. I've had a TRG trigger fail, yes. If plug and play is your thing or the thought of replacing a spring all by yourself causes stress, the Trigger Tech will have the best customer support in this country, and should be promoted. There is very little objective difference in the Timney/ TT/ Jewel etc to someone asking about it.

Yes the one on the EE.
I am looking for something fairly hassle free, the TT seems like a good option and at a good price. I really like the idea of supporting a Canadian company as well. Does anyone have any comments on the Cadex triggers? I tried to do some reading on them and there is very little out there?
