Looking at purchasing a 9mm. I was very interested in the new Smith and Wesson M&P 9. Any one have any suggestions? comments? recommendations? I have the chance of purchasing one Brand New for $587+tx. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg either. Weapon to be used for work n' play.

Thanx:cheers:

The M&P is a terrific pistol, better than a Glock (puts flame retardent suit on) because it fits a wider variety of shooters hands. In every other way it's the equal of the Glock, the trigger is a bit better, so are the sights.

I've shot both and the feel of the M&P is soooooooo much better than the Glock.

I've owned both but sold the M&P9. Both are very good pistols but, for me, I just liked the G17 better. Don't misconstrue this post. The M&P is a very nice pistol as well. Pro's would be better sights and adjustable grips but for me the G17 pointed more naturally for me. YMMV.

I like the Glock. I'm one of the folks for whom the Glock just plain fits. I have absolutely no problem with the 100% dedication to"form follows function" displayed by the Glock designers.

That doesn't change the fact that after firing an M&P and a couple different Glocks, I decided to buy an M&P. If you're torn between the two, try to find a dealer that carries both. Find out which M&P backstrap fits you best, and have the dealer put that one in place. Then compare the two side by side. One will feel better in your hand. That's the one you should buy - regardless of which one seems to be at a better price.

If the M&P is the one that fits your hand better, then pick one up before Jan 31st so you can get in on the "rebate and two free mags" deal. You have until Feb 15th to mail it, but you've got to have a sales receipt dated before Feb 1.

With the price of M&P and Glock, no doubt they are the best of bucks. M&P has a better look, well made and shoot well, but every now and then lemons pop out, some problems remain happened. I still read some post about mag catch problem. mag drop problem with newer guns. I bought a Glock 17 lately, Glock is almost trouble free but the flame kinda of cheapy and not well made. Smart design but ugly, shoot very well, the trigger will be a little concern for most of shooters.

Bought the G17 as a first gun. Love, love, love it. Very forgiving, easy & fun...sounds pretty good so far eh! I don't have big hands but still have no trouble finding a good grip. I never worry...just go out n shoot!:nest:

A good grip and a proper grip are two, not necessarily related things. One means you don't bend over to pick up your pistol all the time, the other means you are shooting in an ergonomically correct and efficient manner, minimizing the opportunity to miss.

Take a look at the Beretta 92 series. I have just researched this to death and decided on a 92FS
