Aek971

I never get the whole varient/non.

How are the skorpions not deemed varients of the prohib ones? Could they be like the swiss arms in the future?

How was the ar looking shotgun deemed restricted despite a totally different function and the lower not direct fit?

I just don't understand the rcmp interpretation of the laws sometimes. Things you would be sure to be deemed varients arent and others that shouldnt be are.

I think the Type 81 will be a litmus test whether or not new x39 Red rifles will be allowed in. That rifle has been at the lab a couple years now and still no word. Even if an AEK was submitted today (not likely) we still wouldn't hear anything for 2-3 years unless there is a change at the lab. What is that called constructive prohibition or something? By refusing to classify either way they are prohibiting it by default.

Excellent point. This is an imminent danger to anyone who wants to experience the improvements in firearms technology, and puts everyone in an uphill battle for firearm imports. This is yet another front to fight on.

Specifically AEK 971 is completely pointless for our market. The main feature and foundation of its design is stability and balance on full auto. There is a gear and a rail with weight attach to gas piston which are moving forward as piston and bolt are moving backwards during the cycle. Unless full auto + full size magazines are legal all this engineering trickery will have zero effect for end user. In fact it will only hurt, because AEK 971 is known for low service life of the counter balance mechanism (rail and gear get beat up too much and need replacement). So no matter how cool it is, this is no more relevant to us as H&K G11 if it existed in production.

But yes it is cool looking:

The Skorpion rifle came before the pistol. Thus the pistol is a variation of the rifle, but not vice versa.

The shotgun lower can make an AR upper fire. Even if not "cleanly".

Zero effect? It will have the effect of making me smile as I shoot, and making liberals cry.

Hardly pointless.

Too much #### here. It is the 'dream girl' that we 'the civilians' will never date, see or touch unless you are a rock star.

I'd certainly like one, preferably in A-762 guise, but the chances of seeing them ever become available in Canada are slim I'd say.
