Just wondering who has one of these Aero Precision AP-15 Receivers, saw a link for them at saskatoon gunworks for $139. I prefer black rifles i can take into the bush so i currently dont own any restricteds but with all this AR nonsense going on i though it might be a good time to get one when i found this. Im assuming that i register this lower and then in the future if i choose to build i can just buy the other parts?

I have a few Newb AR/restricted questions...

-Is this a cheap lower and will i end up with a cheap AR in the end or does it not matter what the lower is and i can put any quality of parts into it?
-do i have to be part of a club to just have this lower kicking around? (i have my Rpal just havent used it yet)
-This is probably a stupid question but do i have to lock the thing up?
-do i have to go through all the transfer and ATT nonsense with this thing when i buy it or if i move?

Not sure if its worth the hassle but all i can think of is the guys kicking themselves for not getting a prohib when they could have. Cant see myself building it though, im happy with my tar21 as far as cool black guns go and prefer the bush over the range any day. If the AR ever becomes NR i would build it in a second cuz i love the look but probably no chance of that now :(

You can get the stripped lower for $139 or the complete lower (DPMS LPK) for $297. Both are outright thefts. And the Aero Precision lower is hardly "cheap". Very good value for what you get, IMHO. But yes to the rest of your questions. And there is absolutely zero chance of the AR ever being non-restricted.

Try saskatoon gunworks they had some aero lowers the last time I looked. Yes you can have an ar lower without joining a club. In theory you would have to lock up the stripped lower. As long as the lower has all the holes drilled correctly it doesn't matter whose it is, the lower is just a box to stick parts in. Where the rubber meets the road in AR's is the BCG and barrel. Don't buy sh!t with these parts. happy shooting. last thing those aero lowers are a steal at that price.

While I agree that this is the way it should be it isn't always so. The various CFOs seem to have different policies and some even change them over time. I have bought restricteds without belonging to a range in the past but I'm also aware of the Ontario CFO sometimes refusing to process a transfer unless the individual belonged to a range or had collector status. Best to call the provincial CFO and confirm their current policy.

STI lowers at Freedom Ventures are even cheaper @ $125.

oh man I thought aero was a good deal, but now seeing STI is even less, I might have to go for that

any opinion on the STI's?? good or not? comparable to what other brand om terms of quality?

Everything I've read about the STI lowers has been positive but the uppers don't have feed ramps machined in to them. If you want to have your upper and lower match that just something to consider if that's important to you or not.

Have one and its my first AR so can't really compare o other brands. But from what I can tell, its well machined and finished and for the price its one of the best deals on a lower in Canada, since most push the 200 mark.

As of today, Saskatoon Gunworks still had Aero lowers in stock. Good service, they completed one lower for me while I waited, and thanks to the Sask CFO, both are home with me tonight.

I have an AP lower on a Colt A2 upper, works for me. Fit and finish is great, and for the money, I can't think of a lower that's any better.

Bought one recently for an SBR build from Darren at Saskatoon Gun Works, and I've been impressed with the quality of the part and the customer service.

Aero Precision make lowers for a few companies. They are very good quality. Just bought one from Saskatoon Gunworks today, now the transfer game.

Im playing the BC transfer game, therefore i will lose that game. 3-5 weeks from what i hear, might be a bit faster cause it is out of province.

Don't lose faith...when I bought mine from Darren, the transfer was completed in about a week, if I remember correctly...maybe even less than that before I received my tracking number and it was on its way. I also received my registration card in the mail a couple of weeks later. :)

Good to hear. Darren initiated the transfer before i even paid, so Darren was awesome its the bc cfo that is the problem. I have heard out of province transfers are a lot faster or can be but in province are absolutely terrible.
