Hi there, have a couple variations of ar but never built one. I see one of the site sponsors has aero precision lowers on for 99.is this a good deal and is it decent quality? I'm not wanting a super high end build. Just want to do a 10.5 and mess with some different colours./handguards /optics. Just doing it for fun I guess. Would it be a decent start? Don't know much about aero.

Also if you could give me a short list of Assembly tools what would they be? I have ar wrench and some brass punches already

Thanks

to complete a build, you will need:

a receiver vise block
roll pin punches
drift punches
a small piece of dowel rod

Check out midwayusa's videos bearing in mind they are trying to sell you tools. Roll pin punches are used extensively, but you'll never again use the "rear takedown pin detent installation tool", for which you can safely substitute a drift punch.

Got most of that as I have others but first build. Ordered 2 sequential numbers. Now colours and length decisions

I completed my lower with nothing more than 1 small punch and small hammer

I was going to say 'ditto' until I remembered that I used an AR tool to tighten the receiver extension nut. I also like to use an exacto knife blade to push in the front takedown pin detent (remembering to use masking tape to avoid marking the lower if I slip...but I don't :)).

Who has these, or a similar good deal? I'd like to get one for the wife (just got her restricted in the mail yesterday!!) Then we will gather the parts here and there. Msg me if need be... thanks...

Do they use commercial tube or milspec tube?
I forgot to ask when I ordered mine.
I have a Colt or Canadian upper receiver waiting for it.
Now I need a barrel.

They'll use either commercial or mil-spec tube. This is a stripped lower, meaning it is little more than a magwell, with places to screw in a buffer tube, drop in a trigger group and lugs for attaching an upper. The lower doesn't care if you use commercial or mil-spec. The extension threads in regardless. It will matter when you buy a stock.

You'll need a lower parts kit, a buffer tube, buffer spring and buffer, stock, a trigger group, and then an upper w/barrel, etc.

I bought my most recent stripped lower for $99 from Saskatoon Gun Works. Aero is one of the few actual manufacturers in the business.

Aero makes forged milspec lowers with exact dimentions. I've measured a few lowers and compared to the blueprints, they were all either exactly on spec or well within the accepted tolerances.

Buy with confidence.

Aero Precision manufactures for a great number of other brands which once assembled cost quite a bit more than the Aero themselves. They are a true MILSPEC lowers and components. Buy with confidence and if you have any concerns please let us know.
