Try the burris XTS-135 speed dot, it won't have the same battery life as an aimpoint but has the same look as the comp ML2 for way less money. It can also withstand the elements and be submerged to 30 ft or so for a extended period of time. I have 2 of them that I don't use anymore as I have upgraded to the Elcan spectre dr and if you pm me I'll set you up with one.

Try to find a Bushnell Holo sight. These are exactly the same as the EoTech, made by the same manufacturer, only without the aluminum shroud or the NV capability. They no longer sell them but used ones should be around $200 or so.

The problem with the Chinese knockoffs is that they are impossible to see outdoors in sunlight. They're nice for indoor shooting, and the zero is fine on a .22 at least, but they are crap on an outdoor range.

X2 for Not true, I have used a FakePoint for a few years - bought it used - on my 10/22 and it has worked superbly outside. My range is desert light and bright. Never had an issue seeing the dot.

Yes, I have compared it to a variety of other PRC dots and this one is better. Also compared to a Vortex and the 'glass' on this fake point has way less distortion.

The fakepoint has just survived 150rds on my new Norc M4 last night. So far, so good. I intend to run both until they give up the ghost. Be interesting to see how they last.

But seeing the dot has not been an issue.

I'll repeat it again because you were not paying attention the first time, obviously:

A RED DOT IS NOT A HOLOSIGHT. Chinese Red dots work just fine, but the HOLOGRAPHIC style sights, like the EOTECH copies DO NOT WORK. They are not bright enough.

The one I owned was plenty bright enough (back when I played airsoft in the snow). No ghosting either. When I got out of airsoft I sold it to a guy who threw it onto his 10/22 and loved it ever since :D

Now that being said that old original EoClones were crap with low lights, ghosting problems, windage/elevation that didn't work, etc. But they changed a lot over the years.

What about ones that use AAA batteries? I can recharge those and I'm guessing other specialty batteries cost a lot of money, but how long would AAA hold it's charge??

Take this for what it's worth because I have zero experience with clones...I THINK you would have problems with any cheap holosight running on lower voltage batteries.
