*Affordable* Semi-Auto 223 for Yotes!!

My understanding of the situation is RCMP interpretation of them is they are modified 5.56/223 mags, therefore they must be pinned to 5 rds 5.56/223. There was a guy who was charged with Beowolf mags as possession of a prohib device, but last I heard he hadn't gone to court over it yet or anything (theres a huge thread around here somewhere on that...) so no legal precedent has been set yet.

Gotcha. So best to stay away for now.

Aren't the Beo mags in questionable legal standing right now? Or have I missed something?

geologist, what sorta accuracy do you get from that setup??

With bulk Norinco and Fiochi ball the best I can do off the bench is 2.5" at 100 yards. With handloads and a better rifleman maybe it'd be better but for my needs it is more than enough.

I'd go with the SU-16, cheapest, arguably among the most accurate, just take a file to the seam on the scope rail and take off the high "seam". Grab some nice glass and it's still cheaper than the benelli. Don't go crazy on the scope either, it's a semi, 3-9 is lots, I prefer 1-4. Just my opinion, YMMV.

Well, thanks for all of your help and advice guys!! I ended up going with a Benelli MR1. Should be here sometime next week.

The fact that I got a smoking deal on an excellent shape used one and it can use LAR-15 mags really helped haha. I ordered up a few MFT LAR-15 mags, so we'll see how those operate.

Might have to look into getting some Beowulf mags as well. I know I won't be buying any actual Benelli mags at $120 a pop!!

You did a right choice. MR-1 is a really nice and accurate semi a bit more money than CSA 223 but you will not have problems with it ,mine works like a charm .
congrats ,the only thing now you have to get use to assemble it :)
good luck.
here is mine with Holosun 503 G and magnifier
