Affordale optics....

Money is an issue but i'm not in a real rush so I have time to save. I amm looking at a Remy 700 VTR. I am more or less looking for some alternatives to spending huge bucks if I dont need to.

Weaver, Bushnell 3200, Leupold Rifleman, would be the min. for me, this takes into account warranty concerns as well as brightness, eye relief, etc.
 
I would look at buying a clean used scope...for great deals the older Bushnell Scope Chief IV scopes are excellent ... so are the older B&L Balvar's ... although the Balvar's are as heavy as a large bag of nails ... and can be used as a hammer...good scopes. Used, not abused, better quality scopes are often great deals.....no matter how much light passes through the lens - it will never wear them out!

When buying optics you are between a rock and a hard place. You either spend a small amount several times or bite the bullets and spending more, once.
 
I have had good luck with Bushnell Banner and Tasco Proghorn scopes, in terms of entry level scopes that will actually be fine for most guys. When buying a scope, I always buy stuff with good standing lifetime warranties, preferrably with a repair center in Canada to save on potential shipping costs etc.
 
When choosing optics, just remember this simple rule of thumb.

*except the elite series. You'll be okay if you go that route.

So true, I have had broken scopes from 3 out of the 4 mentioned above.... bushnell the crosshairs went sproing on a 10/22, simmons screwed up on a mini-14 and the tasco went tits up on another 10/22.

I shouldbuy a bsa so I can be 4/4 .....
 
+2 AP... buying a quality used scope such as a leupold is a better way to go than new cheap stuff... with optics you get what you pay for... save a little longer if you have to and get the best you can afford...

If your looking for a budget scope you will probobly not be able to beat Bushnell Legend for the price. They are good scopes with features like fast focas eye piece, rubber eye ring and more eye relief than advertised. Bushnells have lifetime warrenty
