Affordlble non-restricted .223/5.56

Yah I am picky, but thats because Ive wasted so much money so far on facking crap firearms that Im just sick of it.
CA ar15 3600$ = crap
JRcarbine 1000$ = crap
T97 1000$ = crap
Ruger 10/45 400$ = crap

Mike's not a picky guy, he just appreciates getting quality even if it does cost some extra. I am the same way, I hate buying items only to be left wanting. If it means saving up to get quality, I save and wait. Nothing dissappoints me like poor quality and unreliable products.

I think your just a picky guy.

It's you're not your. That's being a picky guy..

You get what you pay for and anything from Keltec is pure faeces. Looking "cool" doesn't mean you're cool and has never been cool. If the gun doesn't work you'll be anything but cool or cool headed. A .223 VZ is your best option if you want a gun that works and won't drive you mad with problems.

The only 5.56/.223 non-restricted rifle I would recommend is the Vz.58 in that calibre. That said, opinion seems to be a bit split on them. The large majority of owners are pretty satisfied but there is a minority of owners that have reported issues with them.

Plenty of mods/upgrades available for Vz.58's courtesy of Zahal and more than a few site sponsors, including a magwell upgrade to allow AR-15 magazines.

I had 2 SU16, one with a pistol grip and red lion for end. And the new predator . I just recently traded the predator for a $900 scope ( thank Jesus ). Only a $500 Loss. It's not very accurate and will leave you wanting something else. I can't comment on the cracking receiver cause it never happened to me. I did load 10 Lar mags and dumped them as fast as I could and had them all reloaded and tried it a second time , just to try and crack the receiver.:). My advice ,stay away. I also had a keymod XCR , and it was alright but just not nice enough. Lost $700 on that one. I also had a Jard 48, and if it wasn't full of defects , may have been a keeper. So now I'm without a .223 and I'm not buying anymore until ATRS releases their version . I'm building a BRO to fill the void.. Lol

I remember you saying that jr carbines were a piece of sh1t and they always jam, then I bought one and it worked flawlessly and didn't jam once. I ran like 500 rounds and not one jam.

500 rounds is nothing, come back and tell us how it is after 5000 rounds.

I can't see the pictures. But, this guy made his look bad ass:

Looking bad ass means nothing, if all you want is to look cool then buy whatever you want or consider airsoft but if you want quality you're going to have to spend more than $1000.

The closest rifle to what you want would be an AR-180B which can be bought used off the EE for $1400-$1800. Armalite discontinued them a few years ago so no option to buy new. The rifle is simple, reliable and more than accurate enough for battle rifle duties, it's definitely no sniper rifle but it will do what it was designed to do and is as accurate as a Tavor or XCR-L.

For a grand - not much other than a T97 or VZ58 in .223. If you just want an AR look-a-like - then get a pistol calibre carbine like a JRC or TD. If you're patient, look for a used HK SL8.

Ruger mini14, currently own, like it better than the su16 I had

or

Remington 7615p, traded mine away for a jr carbine, bad move

Ruger SR 22, everything you want except the big bang.

Seriously, I would wait patiently with money in hand for a AR180B and then jump on it when one comes up for sale (a WTB ad on the EE could make it happen quicker though).

Unfortunately there just isn't much available that compares to an AR for a $1,000 in Canada. If you can spend a little more (okay a lot more), say $2,000 to $3,000 that picture changes significantly and many others NR .223 semi's become available.

Ultimately you could just get an AR (several decent rifles to choose from for under a grand) and give the range a chance, you might like it (that is if you already haven't gone that route).

Cheers D

have you looked at picking up a used XCR? can find those close to $1k on the EE sometimes.

yep 1000$ if you're on some really good bc shrooms!

Sure you can but you will probably end up with a gen one that are problematic. Not that I would consider an xcr but if I did I wouldn't buy anything but the most recent version but there have been reports of problems with them as well.

I follow the EE pretty closely and have seen XCRs as low as $1,700 but have NEVER seen one at $1,000 even from a motivated seller. That's either a giveaway price on a very problematic firearm, or a scam.

Yup, and if there was it would have been sold about 10 seconds after the seller posted the add.
