Got back from management hunting on a beautiful conservancy in Zimbabwe. Surreal, and man are the game tough over there... Double lung an animal the size of a small elk with a .375 H&H soft point, through and through, and it runs off into the bush as if untouched and hides itself before dying... Also shot an Impala, a 130lb animal, directly through the heart, destroying the opposite leg/shoulder on exit. That 130lb animal, with no heart, no blood pressure, and a flapping appendage for a 4th limb STILL ran into the bush before collapsing. Buffalo bull, and one Impala hit with a 300gr .375 H&H were the only "bang-flops". The Buffalo dropped to his knees/side against some trees at my neck shot, that I had to weave through the bush into a tea saucer sized clear space. Getting the bullet through that window at under 30 yards over iron sights wasn't the problem, determining exactly where my bullet was going in an ornery 2,000lb mass of old bull was! Not up to tell the tale of the trip in full, friends of mine here will hear it no doubt in person. Hope the pics prove interesting, I have 650 of them, this is just a snippet.

Young Breeding Bull, Massive. Won't be hunted for many, many years til he's well passed on his genes. I liked the Jon's conservation and management concerns, big bulls won't fall til very old.

And a colour inversion of said beast that I just find too knarly to not post.

I hear you there Bro.
Try taking them on with a bow and feel the highs and lows.
Never lost one of the seven I shot but like they say.."Nothing in Africa wants to die."

Great pics, great experience. I agree, let the old buffs get old, then take them when they're daga boys. I was able to "ice" my impala and my warthog, but the wildebeest and the buff were another story. The only shotgunning I did was for a Egyptian Goose that I got, and a black mamba, that I did not . . . nor he me obviously. Your pics bring back a flood of memories, thanks!

Awesome! It's a dream for me...

Just gotta make a plan, save up, and seize it. I'm sitting back likely only a couple kms from you right now in Whitecourt, it's doable. ;) Plains game can be done very cost effectively, buffalo's pricier, but if you find a management hunt on a conservancy like mine was, I got lucky poking around, it's not brutally expensive.
