This was my first time in Namibia absolutely loved it, hard hunting but worth every step. Good luck to you on your upcoming hunt.

I know my African game spooksar and those are some truly outstanding animals, exceptional actually..........very nice !!!

Nyala looks to be 30" or better and both the oryx and Sable appear to be over 40"..........super animals..........

Thanks! This is our second trip to Namibia. Love the giraffe. It's number one on my hit list this trip! Guess we won't run into you in the airport this time....lol

Please don't take this question the wrong way LOL
But I'm curious, do you guys get to eat any of the meat from the hunts in africa?
I've always wondered what some of them hooved critters taste like. And love hearing stories of how the camp cook whipped up meals from the kills.

We've tried some meat from pretty well every critter we've killed and African antelope are without question some of the finest meat there is, with eland leading the pack. I've tried various organs and guts and other parts as well. When in Rome....lol One of my most memorable meals was zebra backstrap cooked over an open fire. Springbok pate is pretty tasty as well. Can't wait to try some giraffe and to see if wild ostrich taste any different than their domestic counterparts. For me, eating the game is a huge part of the African experience.

Sheephunter is right African antelope are tasty. I tell the PH I want to try everything I shoot except preditors, some is better than others, but I haven't tried anything I wouldn't eat again

When in the Congo, that was all we ate, they brought no food to camp other than some veggies and canned soups etc. We had soup the first 2 nights, then I told them the next thing with fur was going to die, cause I can't hunt hard all day without protein............got a Peters duiker that afternoon and a Bongo a couple days later, so we were styling meat wise. Also shot several blue duiker for the pot, as the trackers and camp hands can go through an astronomical amount of meat if allowed to have free run. After 2 days of soup and cereal the meat was absolutely outstanding.............Eland is the best, impala is excellent, warthog is one of the best and waterbuck is almost inedible as is elephant. The waterbuck meat stinks and is tough and the elephant makes mtn goat seem tender, it is literally unchewable. All the small antelopes are tasty and not too tough, but as you go up in size the meat tends to get tougher, with eland being the exception. Buffalo is very good but only tried the best cuts, I suspect the rest of him may have been tougher than I would have liked.
The dining is indeed a very large and enjoyable part of the experience and every camp I have been in, one always ate what was taken in the field, usually the day before, but sometimes that mornings kill would see the pan that night.

Thanx guys.
Great pics. My wife, the new hunter now going into the 2nd season was peekin over my shoulder while I was lookin at the pics here. She was cooking up some moose sausages at the same time and asked... Is that africa? We should go there.... And as she rolled the sausages in the pan she asked me if the hunters got to eat the meat and if I thought it would be good.
Thanx for sharin ;)

I know from guys I have spoken with who hunt Africa the locals take a lot of the meat, great idea, but what of the Giraffe? Does anyone eat that? My mother's favorite meat on a Turkey was the neck, she may have been in heaven with a Giraffe?! No shortage of neck meat there!!:p

The oldest giraffe bulls known as "stink bulls" are pretty rank. Other than those, giraffe is quite good. Reminds me of eland.

Africans will eat just about anything, old bulls, guts, blood-shot meat, road-kill and snared animals. At least some will.
