African Mounts are home!

Ya, we stayed in a semi permanent tent camp for part of the hunt but we also stayed in pup tents for part of the hunt. It was quite the adventure traveling across some of that roadless/trackless country.
 
We hunted with Boet Nel Hunting but I don't think he has the northern concession anymore. They come up for bid every three years and he didn't get it last year. Too bad though because he is an incredible PH and it is an unbelieveable area.
 
Awesome. I was talking to my taxidermist last week and my stuff will be ready to pick up in two weeks. Worst thing is that I won't be able to pick them up until teh 11th of July as he'll be away on holidays! Can't wait though!

Too bad about the loss of the concession. Too bad as well that the Namibian concessions are such a political hot potato and that the concession holders get them for such a short period. That short time frame will eventually encourage crook to shoot the place flat for a couple of years and move on. In country that harsh, it might take the game a generation to recover.

Ya although you always have a Game Guardian and a local tracker with you that keep track of what is shot. There are quotas on all animals and you are required to buy a special licence so it is fairly easy to track what's being shot. It is hard for the PH to plan anything long term and of course once he does a bunch of improvements, it just makes the concession more valuable next time it comes up for tender.
