I'm sure you will like it, the three Howas I have or had are top quality rifles and excellent shooters.
My current Howa is an Alpine in 308 and I'm itching to get it out to the range.
The other two I had are a 375 Ruger chambered rifle and a 6.5 Creedmoor, both tack drivers and both in my Son's gun safe now..

What's the Hogue stock like on these Howa 1500's Kurgan ?

When they put out the mini in 7.62 x 39 late this year going to be all over that. Also seriously thinking of same rifle in .223. I've handled enough Vanguard S2's to know they are happening for the price but have yet to see the Hogue stock.

I don't think one can beat the Howa/Vanguard for cost vs quality.

What's the werser that can 'appin?
Take it awll 'part and send the kibbles and bitts away fer kustawmizzing.
Then a custom stawk.
Ohhhh bouy.

Awn nudder note, let us know how it performs and duzz the deed.

ummm, no CCH or custom wood anymore for me. She'll stay in factory form. Learned my expensive lesson.

The Hogue stocked Howa 375 I had was lighter than the similar stocked and same chambered Ruger Alaskan that I originally owned.
I will ask my Son to weigh it.
The Howa 308 I have wears a Bansner stock and I love it.
Weight on it is 7 lbs. field ready.
I might be wrong but it seems to me that the Hogue stocked Howa I had was about 8 1/4 lbs, light enough for a 375 I think..

I have 2 Howa's...a .223 (pictured below) and the same 6.5x55 Gameking package you bought. The good news is the overmold Hogue stocks are pretty solid for these rifles, light and stiff enough for consistent accuracy. Barrels are free floated which goes against the Vanguard claim that they need pressure points to shoot MOA or better...both mine shoot submoa. The Nikko (made in China) scope is worth $100 on the EE....may as well throw the rings in with the scope as you won't want those either. The rail is OK. I would have got just the rifle if they offered it but the 6.5x55 I could only get as the package.
Good solid guns as is....oh the LSI mag conversion is pretty cheesy low quality plastic so unless a detachable mag is really important stick with the factory setup.

The reticle is very...busy.....lol

I can work with that at short ranges, no problem. However, I just ordered Leupold STD steel bases for Howa 1500. I already have low rings, and I prefer these mounts over most others. I will likely use my VX-2 1-4x20, but will try the Nikko scope out.

With a Nikko Sterling scope. I'm certain you have an upgrade for that squirrelled away somewhere.
