After-market Synthetic Stocks

I'm looking to replace the stock on my remington 700 SF CDL 7mm-08 with a synthetic. It's wearing the factory walnut now (on the exchange btw ) but I'd like something better suited to hunting abuse. I've seen pictures of HS precision, Bell&carlson and some hogues but never handled any. I'd like something on the lighter side but doesn't have to be a featherweight either. What's everybody like out there for aftermarket? What are some pro's / con's? I'm interested in hearing any reviews of ones you own? thx

I just had a great and helpful experience by calling MacMillan stocks. They couldn't help ME out [the gun was just unknown to them] but they sure as heck came back to me quickly, and I live in UK.

I was thinking I might go up to the $400-$500 range. I'd really like to get a feel for the stock though if I am putting that kind of money at it

Have a look at the different stocks at McMillan. There is at least 10 different patterns to fit a Rem 700. If you decide to buy one, its cheaper to order it from 24hourcampfire.com.

I like a monte carlo cheek piece and palm swell, so I use the Sako Hunter pattern...

you already have that in the walnut stock.i find the synthetic stocks to be crappy compared to the wood,they are colder to hold.bump them against somthing and it makes more noise than the wood.if you ar planning on dumping 4-500 into a stock why not just get another 700 with a factory synthetic stock and sell the one you have now with the wood stock on it.
