recently posted that I was purchasing 870MCS, however after further research, and comments, I've decided to go 870P Max route. for $60 more I get a surfire forend, and wilson ghost ring sights. The 870MCS has more picatinny rails, and a quick exchange stock, but its true, if you don't have the full barrel and stock exchange kit, whats the point?

One question to anyone who might know, Does the 870P MAX surefire forend come with an LED light or a incandescent light. I know Surefire makes LED model forends, just wondering if its now stock on new 870P MAX shotguns?

From the pics that are on the Remington law enforcement site it's the older incandescent version. Although I've seen one with the newest Surefire LED version as well.
I'd say if it's only an extra $60 it would be the older version which is now discontinued.

Just get an 870 Tactical with GRS and rail, then add a MOD-C barrel clamp for the flashlight. Buy a Surefire G2X 200/15 lumen tactical light and call it done.

  • You'll still have your ghost ring sights (which are useless in a quick/CQB engagement anyway).
  • Rail for any optics you might wish to add in the futurebetter flashlight.
  • Better/sleeker flashlight setup (the Surefire looks like a dildo hanging off the fore-end)..

I just bought the MCS from Wolverine! I had the PMAX and it was the older version surefire. Great shotgun though. I regretted selling it, untill tonight....when I bought the MCS, which is what I wanted in the first place.

Funny the 870MCS you just bought would have been on the order I cancelled, When I ordered it I got the last one, then I phoned in and exchanged it for the 870P Max. Hope you enjoy it!!!!

I disagree here. The Surefire forend is purpose built, and single mode (having a multi-mode light on a gun is counterproductive). The pressure switch is contained in the fore end, and falls right under your natural grip. You can put your thumb where it is supposed to go, on the fore end. The incandescent models are easily upgradable to newer LED modules. If you get the single battery 318 model, it doesn't extend far past the grip.

To each their own, but you have seen some odd dildos...:p

Surefire foreend looks like a dildo hangin off the front of the gun. That's all.

As far as purpose built goes, solid is solid, and the CDM clamp is solid as hell. The light is solid as well. The clicky is right there, has a momentary on which is good, IMO.

Can`t really compare the civi 870`s (Tactical, etc) to PMAX or MCS, etc. These models were intended and hand built (assembled) for LE/Mil end users. Although they may look similar to the untrained eye, they are not. I currently have PMAX, MCS and have owned a few civi 870`s, so can speak from experience.

One very noticeble feature that anyone should pick up is that the trigger housing/guard on the civi models is plastic!.....yeah...plastic....

Scott, you can get a Surefire LED head kit to replace the incan head that comes with PMAX Surefire forend. Check Ebay first...they are pricey at retail.

If not...contact Dave`s Tactical in New Westminster. He can get this for you (probably may even have in stock) as he is a Surefire Dealer and they are great guys to deal with.
