Anyone use or can recomend an after market or factory I guess choke for throwing 00 buck tighter and further? The tightest choke I have for my wingmasters is full steel and I have patterned it on cardboard at different distances....not to impressive. I don't take it deer hunting for that reason, but last night at dusk I had a couger chase all of my ducks in the pond behind my house. It was doing laps around the pond trying to get at them. Because I have a farm and livestock, I'm allowed to have a gun and ammo out and handy, but only what can be legaly discharged in that area. That would be a shotgun and no single projectiles.

Thanks for any input.

I remember reading about carlton choke tubes years ago....anyone know who may deal in them?

"...legally discharged..." Look into the laws related to livestock protection. You might find there's an exemption for said reason.
"...tighter and further..." A tighter choke isn't going to make any shot go farther. You need more velocity for that. Remington does make an extra full turkey choke. Just buy the tube.
Buckshot isn't reliable for deer past roughly 30 yards. Not enough pellets in the larger sizes like 00.

Generally speaking more open chokes throw better patterns than more constrictive chokes. Since no one has said anything do you have neighbor's nearby that could be menaced by a wounded cougar? If so I would contact them and the game wardens so that no one gets hurt. This not a condemnation for protecting your livestock, just a question and suggestion.

I use the beretta modified choke that came with the gun. It patterned the best out of all including tighter constructions. Only good to about 40yds though.

I have found with large shot like buckshot less choke is better. try to track down a pattern master choke tube. they claim 100% in 20" circle at 40 yards.

Wow, with 00 buck that would be impressive. I think I'd have to see it to believe it though. I'm getting 75-80% inside 30" at 40 yds (T and BBB), modified choke.

Do you mean Carlson choke tubes? I use them in my 870 and Maxus....good tubes. Canadian dealer is h ttp://alscornerstore.ca and they were great to deal with. Carlson has coyote specific tube they market:

Carlson's Coyote Choke Tubes

For use with Hevi-Shot, Bismuth or lead, this high performance choke tube has been specifically designed for the coyote hunter to deliver devastating downrange patterns upwards of 70 yards when shooting larger shot sizes. Produces very dense patterns when ultilizing T and Buckshot loads. Great for waterfowl and predator hunting.
NOT FOR USE WITH STEEL SHOT

I'm surprised no one has mentioned flight control buckshot. Its premium ammo, but works great at distance. It has a specialty wad that keeps the shot together for longer.
