Aftermarket Savage Mark II barrels?

What is there available?

AFAIK, there is not real advantage to have a 20.75" barrel over a 16" for .22lr, other than sight radius.

Also, what barrel length would be flush with the stock?

I'm interested in picking up a Mark II-GL as my first bolt-gun.
 
The factory barrel on a Savage MKII (heavy barrel) is probably better than most aftermarket barrels (using the 10/22 as a benchmark)!

There is absolutly no reason to change it out.

I own 2 savages with heavy barrels and accu-triggers, a 93R (.17 HMR) and a MKII (.22LR). Both shoot under an inch at 100yrds from a rest & to be honest on most days I shoot like SH*T!! I am always marveling at how well these Savages shoot..... right out of the box, its crazy good!

You may want to look into an aftermarket stock, but other than that the MKII is a performer right out of the box! If you are interested in a nice wood stock check these guys out..... Sharp shooter supply .com
