Hi,

Looking to build a varmit rig. Was going to chamber it in .243 so I could be used on deer if wanted. But looking for opinions/experiences with stocks like manners mcs-t1 or similar stocks. Not really trying for a light weight build per say but would like to stay around the 8lb area for the rifle. Looking to build off a savage 10/11/16 action and taking a varmit or stock barrel and cutting it down to the 18" mark.

Shoots would be taken at 600yrd or less typically with most in the sub 250 range.

Trying to decide on a stock is the hardest part. Don't want anything to fancy as far as adjustable cheek rest etc. Just want a solid good base for the action. Wouldn't mind a folding stock but it's not a requirement.

Avalaiblity would Also play a part in the decision as I don't want to wait months for a stock.

What has everyone else used/ tried?

Cheers

I have a nice walnut stock that's bedded, but it's for a long action. If you have a bottom bolt release on your gun, good luck finding anything decent.

From my understanding most quality aftermarket stock makers offer the required Inletting for the bottom bolt release. Was just on McMillan site and they do anyways.
