I just tried out a rear sight that I ordered from ww w.skinnersights.com. He manufactures sights for marlin rifles. I received the sight soon after placing an order and I can't believe the difference it made. Well worth the money. Anyone looking for a replacement sight should check it out.

I bought the XS sight system from Epps, Top notch.

Rear sight was the shrouded peep sight wit the front post.
I took 1" off the butt and added a pachmayr decelerator recoil pad and a hammer extension. Refinished the stock with hand rubbed oil.

BTW the sight improvements really give this rifle a better faster picture.

The Ghost Ring on a guide gun.

Got this from The Shooters Edge and had excellent service

I ordered a set of Williams sights. Should be arriving this week. It's an adjustable peep sight in the rear with a fiber optic at the front. Not sure how small the peep with be though?

On my GG, I ran a Williams FP on the back, and simply painted the brass bead on the front white. I found it worked great for fast shots with the aperture removed ghost ring style, and was accurate on deliberate shots with the aperture in.

Of course, I suck with iron sights on rifles.

I also use the XS Sights Ghost Ring set up on my Marlin 1895GS it is an extremely fast accurate unit to use.

i've got a Wild West Guns rear ghost ring on mine. I'm trying to decide between the ghoct ring with new front sight - and rail or the ghost ring with protective wings and no rail. The rail would alllow me to add or remove a scope quickly for load tests, the odd long shot, etc...

XS sights on the 1895G - question re front sight picture

Need some directions here....coming back to sporting rifles after a long time and my experiences have mostly been with open sights on BRNO/Rigbys and Express sights on double rifles.

The only rifles that I've used with peep sights were the M1, M14 and Enfields and, I now find the attained sight picture on my 1895G a bit different (just me perhaps?)

This, in the sense, that I get to see the entire front sight component including the ramp through the ghost ring - I do realize that one solely needs to visually concentrate on the top of the front sight post and simply align that with intended point of aim - however, I'm also assuming that with the XS sight design the shooter will also be aware of the entire front sight i.e. ramp + post both?

Thanks,

The aperature for any hunting rifle must be large enough to see the entire front sight, front of the barrel, and maybe to see if any angry squirrel is sneaking up on you from the side.
