Aftermarket stocks

Looking for people's idea's on aftermarket stocks, who makes good ones, what are your favorites. Looking for one for my custom build but I'm having some trouble, being as I'm looking for a LH laminate, preferably thumbhole. Just a brainstorming session really, so let's hear what you have to say!
 
I've got a Richard's Microfit laminate, thumb hole. Nice stock but there is a bit of work you will have to do. Had to machine out the mag well. Dev con bedded with pillars. Also put two cross bolts in to keep it from splitting (.338 WM). And then the sanding and finishing. The stock added 3 lbs over the original synthetic. Took 4 months to get.

I am familiar with Boyds, though they don't seem to offer any Savage stocks in lh....will have to email them I guess to be sure. They also don't offer any stocks for the current generation of Savage short actions, which really kind of sucks.
 
I see no reason why a Boyds couldn't be shipped to Canada unless the factory just doesn't want to...Stocks are not firearms parts...well at least not to the definition the US government uses. Richards microfit ships here (and worldwide in fact) so I assume boyds does, though I guess that's something to check for sure.
 
I've ordered 4 stocks from Boyd's. If you stick with the VIP inlet, you'll be under $100.00 and there is no problem getting them here. Their web site explains it.

There are no special requirements for us to ship a rifle stock to any location in the world. A wooden rifle stock is simply referred to as "Wooden Sporting Goods" on all customs forms, and there are usually no restrictions on the importation of this product in most parts of the world because it is not considered a gun part. However, please check with your local customs agency to determine if any import permits or documents are needed in your country to import a wooden rifle stock.

I guess the key work here must be wooden, and all the other composite stocks might not fall into this same category, although I find, surprisingly enough, many US manufacturers and sellers are pretty unknowledgeable about what can and cannot be sent, so just have 'blanket' rules. Oh well, not much you can do about it though.

That is a beautiful rig, I am waiting for my thumbhole in grade "A" fancy American Black Walnut. It was a tough choice, my next one will probably be laminate. Did you get the finishing kit as well?
 
I love the H-S stocks. Every bit as good as the McMillan but without waiting for a year and often less than half the price.

Richard's Microfit are OK but they are still just laminates and someone else's choice of wood grade. Not impressed by what they consider Presentation Grade and Exhibition Grade. They display wonderful pics on their website, but the reality is a crappy piece of overpriced wood.

In past I also liked Bell & Carlson Medalist stocks, but I ended up with a couple of crappy stocks with major factory defects. BC no longer stands behind their product. I made multiple attempts to contact B&C, but they did not respond to email, phone message or written letter. Before someone asks or makes comment, all of my attempts were very polite.

Why do you say they are crappy? The above certainly seems to say otherwise, and a picture is worth a 1000 words as they say. Not really sure what 'just laminates' means either, could you explain as maybe what you don't like them is what I do, or maybe there is a good reason I would want to steer clear.
