So I picked up a vanguard S1 stainless for a good buy. Showed up today and the first thing I do is check how bad this trigger is. Having a notoriously bad trigger I got a pleasant surprise. Zero creep and nice and light? Thought that is the best crappy trigger I ever felt. After removing stock to replace with a boyds I noticed this. No mention of this in ad and previous owner had no idea. Anyone know which brand by looking? No markings I can tell

Do you have any other S1 trigger's in your guns? S2 are natural looking steel, the brass color could just be from anodizing.
This is the pic from the link so people don't have to find it. They were adjustable from the looks of it.

My backcountry has a regular steel colored group. As far as I know these were just factory tuned and not different. It is the s1 not s2. Maybe someone who has an S1 can chime in. Backcountry trigger is great also.

That looks like the factory vanguard trigger that I just replaced out of my s1 stainless. For what it's worth the vanguard s1 triggers were very hit and miss. Mine was the worst trigger I have felt and needed a timney ordered the next day. My fathers was actually quite nice and he has no real reason to replace it. Consider yourself lucky and enjoy not having to spend 160 on a trigger

Interesting. Maybe the hype about s1 trigger being impossible to get creep out of with a light pull is not true? This one has zero creep. It is excellent to say the least. Every bit as good as any Tikka or sako ect I've owned. Thanks for the info guys. I immediately figured this trigger was odd as I've never adjusted an S1 and they are creepy, heavy and gritty from factory for sure.

Definitely an S1. I had mine worked on by Rod Henrickson for $75 (10 years ago). He made it into a wonderful trigger. It can be done, but as others have said, they seem to be hit and miss. Mine was so bad it felt almost like a two stage trigger with 1/8 tsp sand thrown in for good luck. It was bad, bad, bad.

I think they got a bad rap because FUDDS don't know much about guns....out of the box the S1 were usually around 7-8lb lawyer triggers, and fudd would not know how to adjust them.

The bad ones are real bad. No amount of adjusting in the world would make a difference. Sear needed honing. Done right and they can be real nice.
