AG 42B LJUNGMAN magazine question.

You sure or just saying?
As far as I know 8mm, 7mm, 30-06, 6.5x55, 308 share the same rim and base diameter. All these calibers come from Mauser type actions. That's your clue.
Yes the length is different, but if 8x57 is slimmer than 6.5x55 then I must be blind.

I've got both rifles so I can compare them. 6.5 base diameter is .480, 8x 57 is .470, enough difference if you make Swede cases out of the 30/ 06 family cases , you'll end up with swollen heads.

Yes there is always some difference in brass, each ammo company has their own R&D department. Winchester may bulge, while S&B may not. Fact is that these caliber cases will work in hakim and ljungman. Some will fit better than others. Now If I said 7.5x55 is same as 6.5x55 then that would be a total bs.

I have an AG42B with a Hakim magazine. It functions flawlessly.(And it's WAY easier to install/remove the mag than the real AG42B mag in my other gun). Did I just get lucky?

Nope. 6.5x55 and 7.5x55 have a larger rim diameter, .480 compared to .470 for the 8mm and .498 for the 7.5 Swiss

As I said, each brass manufacturing company has their own interpretation of what works. thus variation in brass measurements.
7.5x55 is not Mauser derivative cartridge, which has definitely a larger rim that will not fit in to hakim mag.
Hakim mag will work with 6.5 and 8mm, that's what this thread is about.

OK, gotta ask. Does anyone have a magazine or know of a place to buy a magazine that will fit in the AG42B?

I have one in mint condition. It was a spare for a AG42 Swedish rifle that was sold in 2008. The mag was misplaced for years but I keep it with my other mags now.

I was thinking of putting it on the exchange in the next day or so.
